Contemplate. Contemplate flamenco dancers and the comfortable atmosphere of tiny Tapas Bars filled with the lively conversation of a day well skied. Contemplate the magnificence of the mighty Pyrenees on a sunny winters afternoon, timeless medieval villages of wood and stone cottages that dot the snowy hillsides, the torrents of rushing mountain water falls that both surprise and amaze you, the rich aromas of Spanish coffee, skiing on sun covered slopes under a vibrant sky of eternal blue, rustic village restaurants exuding an atmosphere of comfortable homey charm, fresh Mediterranean fish grilled on an open fire, the explosive taste of a fine vintage Rioja Baja from regional vineyards, shaggy mountain cattle covered in light blankets of fluffy white snow, vistas of gapping canyons and mountains that cascade into an endless ocean of white caps, cuisine that blends the best that France and Spain have to offer, magnificent forests of pines, firs and beeches, a fresh carpet of snow that exhilarates you like it would a small child.
Baqueira-Beret is located in Val d’Aran in the northern Spanish Pyrenees close to the Spanish/French boarder. Baqueira and Beret are two small ski villages (1,800 feet) that service three local ski stations that whisk skiers to the summit some 3,300 feet above. The ski area covers 4,300 acres, has 57 runs covering 115 kilometers and is served by 30 lifts. Baqueira-Beret boasts an enviable snow record and generally experiences temperatures that are warmer than in the Alps do to a higher number of sunny days.
The area offers an amazing variety of exceptional restaurants offering game, meat and fish served in the traditional Spanish style, lively tappis bars, a breadth of winter activities and the Banys de Tredos thermal baths.
